Applying in April or May? What to Expect

At AMIGOS, we know that the onboarding process can seem overwhelming at times, particularly if a volunteer decides to join an AMIGOS Summer Project in the spring and is on an expedited onboarding timeline prior to their summer project.  Our Enrollment and Admissions teams will provide extra support to families whose volunteers apply to AMIGOS after April 1st to ensure they are familiar with all program requirements and are aligned on the onboarding expectations.

All volunteers who apply to AMIGOS after April 1st for a summer project must complete an onboarding call with a member of our Enrollment Team (parent/guardian must attend as well).  You can sign up for your onboarding call at the following link.  Families should expect this call to last approximately 30 minutes as program requirements and expectations will be reviewed in detail.  These requirements will include timely paperwork submissions, compliance with the Health & Safety screening process, payment of Program Fee & Airfare, and completion of all pre-departure trainings and webinars.  If a volunteer cannot meet the program requirements on the expedited timeline, it will be recommended that they wait until the following summer to participate.

Please note that a volunteer must meet the following requirements in order to join an AMIGOS project after April 1st

  • Volunteer has a passport that is valid 6 months past their return date to the US

    •  **possible exceptions based on project & passport validity

  • Volunteer meets the AMIGOS General Health Criteria linked here

  • Volunteer agrees to complete paperwork and payments on expedited timeline
